Huddersfield vs Newcastle 2018/19 Match Preview

This looks like it is definitely going to be a game for the purists as Huddersfield play host to Newcastle this afternoon. Neither side is averaging more than a goal a game in the Premier League this season, while a look at their shot conversion rates is not all that impressive either.

Newcastle are the form team out of the two, having picked up 10 points from their last six matches but come into this game having fallen to Wolves at home last Sunday. While Huddersfield were perhaps unlucky not to hold out away at Arsenal last Saturday.

And that defeat coupled with Burnley’s win over Brighton sees David Wagner’s men drop into the bottom three, a plight that has perhaps made even worse when you consider that their joint top scorer Aaron Mooy is now out injured until February.

Something that is all the more concerning when you consider that Mooy has scored just two league goals in this campaign, a statistic that is perhaps more damming when you consider that the other joint scorer is that of defender Mathias Jorgensen.

It’s arguably more of a must win game for Huddersfield, but that’s not to say that Newcastle will be taking it lightly as the more points they can get on the board then the more breathing space they can put between themselves and the relegation zone. I have a feeling this one could be last on Match Of The Day.
